Overview.
This two days gorilla tour will be a short, yet so exciting exploration of one of the most beautiful destinations in East Africa. Travelers on this safari will explore a section of the world’s only remaining population of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
Visitors will therefore have the opportunity to watch the exciting gentle giants up close as they interact and groom their young ones in the forest. Such moments are treasured by nature enthusiasts and adventure-seeking travelers, a reason why one shouldn’t miss out on such an opportunity.
Travellers will further have exciting moments with the indigenous Batwa people who are renowned for their ability to coexist with the mountain gorillas in the forests. They have exciting cultures and traditions, entertainment and folklore which gets visitors excited, travellers on this trip are blessed to experience that too.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1. Pick up from the hotel in Kigali. Travel to Bwindi impenetrable National Park. Batwa cultural visit.
After breakfast, the guests will be picked up from the hotel by a professional tourist guide. Interact with the guide and undertake the journey to Bwindi impenetrable National Park in a comfortable tourist vehicle. The journey will take you about four hours and 41 minutes covering the 164.4 kilometer distance.
On arrival in the park, you will continue to the lodge where you will relax and get served lunch later in the afternoon. After lunch, you will undertake a visit to the Batwa homesteads in the National Park.
Enjoy time with these wonderful people, interact with them and learn more about their way of life. They live a typically hunter gatherer way of life and will provide entertainment to you the rest of the evening through their dances and folklore. Head back to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight rest.
Day 2. Gorilla trek. Head back to Kigali.
Have breakfast at sunrise as served by the team of professionals at the lodge. Undertake the journey to the park headquarters where you’ll meet the Ranger guides who will brief you about the gorilla trekking activity.
Make your way into the jungle to trek the mountain gorillas amidst the breathtaking landscapes covered with captivating flora species. The activity may take you five to six hours and when the gorilla family is met you will be allowed to spend a maximum of 60 minutes observing them as they interact among themselves in their natural habitat.
Take pictures and record videos that will always remind you of this adventure. Head back to the lodge at high noon to get yourself a delicious lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and undertake the drive back to Kigali that will take you 4 hours and 41 minutes for the 164.4 kilometers distance. Continue to the airport to catch the flights back home which will be the end of the safari.
