The Virunga conservation area is where three national frontiers converge on the dormant volcanoes where the mountain gorillas live on the edge of the Rift Valley: Rwanda, Uganda and The Congo.
This is the place where the deep, dark forests of the Congo Basin meet the wide, open grasslands of east Africa, the line of contact between the two is an abrupt volcanic mountain range known as the Virunga that continues north into the Mountains of The Moon, or Ruwenzori range.
Each of these countries protects its own portion of the Virunga Mountains which when combined forms the 435 Km² Virunga Conservation Area. This Gorilla Safari Will be looking at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Gorilla Park in Uganda

Day 2 : Volcanoes National Park
Spend the day gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park. Tracking the gorillas through the lush forested slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. If you are lucky, you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch.
Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when the forest is wet and muddy.
