Overview

These 5 days Uganda gorillas and wildlife safari will take you to Uganda’s two major safari destinations namely; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will take part in activities like gorilla trekking, wildlife safari game drives, boat cruises and chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular and second-largest national park. It is famous for being home to the rare tree-climbing lions in Ishasha sector.

This 5 days Uganda gorillas and wildlife safari will give you a chance to discover Uganda’s unique wildlife and bird species.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival at the airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will meet our professional driver guide. He/she will brief you about your 5 days Uganda gorillas and wildlife safari. You will then embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home of mountain gorillas.

You will stop at the Uganda Equator at Kayabwe for a cup of coffee, relaxation, and exploring the equator line where you will get a chance to step in earth’s two hemispheres at the same time. Lunch will be en-route.

Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Batwa Community experience

After breakfast, go to the park headquarters for briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. You will walk into the impenetrable thickets of Bwindi in search of these magical primates.

With the help of an expert guide, you will meet the gorillas and spend an hour in their presence. Bwindi is more than just the gorillas, it is rather a home to colobus monkeys, forest elephants, forest buffaloes, and bush pigs, to mention but a few. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the evening, you will visit the neighboring Batwa communities for an amazing cultural experience. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening game drive

Tree-Climbing Lions in Ishasha

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park also known as a Medley of wonders. You may do optional coffee tours along the way. Lunch will be en-route.

You will enter the park via the Ishasha sector and start your game drive in search of the rare tree-climbing lions. Lions are seen resting in the tree branches or hunting. You will enjoy views of Rift Valley’s endemic species of birds as well.

Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector of the park. You will meet animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, Lions and leopards. It is also a reliable birding sector. Visit the Lake Katwe salt mining area and learn how salt mining is done. It is a chance for you to interact with the local members of the community. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation at a swimming pool.

In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise at Kazinga Channel. This is the water body that connects Lake Edward to Lake George. The place is a gathering place for animals and birds as they come to quench their thirst, especially during the dry season. You will see several Elephants, crocodiles, and hippos roaming the channel.

Take your time and interact with the local fisher men and learn about the local fishing methods as well as fish species at the channel. In the later hours of the day, you will retreat to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge and transfer to Kampala – Departure

After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. This is an extraordinary experience as you watch the chimps in the forest. Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura is somewhat easier than that of Kibale National Park and animal sighting is guaranteed. The trails come with bat experience and butterfly sightings.

You will continue with an en-route lunch to Kampala for departure. The driver will drop you at a hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your outbound flight. This marks the end of your 5 days of Uganda gorillas and wildlife safari.
