This 5-day Rwanda Double Gorilla trek and Golden Monkey trekking safari will allow you to see the primates of Rwanda and spend more time with them. The safari will start and end in Kigali. It will also take you to Volcanoes National Park for an ultimate golden monkey trekking adventure.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will meet your Rwanda tour guide. He or she will drive you through the endless rolling to Volcanoes National Park. You will have an en-route lunch before checking in to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Volcanoes National Park is one of Rwanda’s top tourist destinations. At your lodge, you will see multiple bird species and many primates.

Day 2: First Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will go for gorilla trekking at the briefing center. Once the briefing and grouping are done, you will start the trek. Enter the thick forests and search for the giant apes. Upon meeting them, you will spend one hour in their presence.
Watch them as they play, mate, and dine. Return to your lodge for relaxation. Lunch and dinner will be at your lodge as well.

Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast at your lodge, you will go to the briefing center before taking on the amazing golden monkey trekking. Volcanoes National Park is home to multiple monkey species and the most famous are the golden monkeys.
Spending time in their presence will give you a chance to learn about their history and behaviors. You will also encounter multiple bird species some of which are Rift Valley endemics while others are elusive. Return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you may take on an optional Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village tour or spend it at leisure. Lodges in Volcanoes National Park are strategically located to offer scenic views of the surrounding areas. You may spend your afternoon enjoying the views. Swim in the pool or grab a bottle of beer from the bar for relaxation.

Day 4: Second Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will go for yet another amazing gorilla trekking expedition. This will allow you to trek a different gorilla family in the Volcanoes National Park.
With the help of experienced guides and rangers, you will meet the gorillas and spend an hour in their presence. Every day in Volcanoes National Park is unique. You will visit the Dian Fossey grave and learn about the history of mountain gorilla conservation in Rwanda. Return to your lodge for lunch.
You will spend the afternoon at leisure before having dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali, city tour and Departure
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Kigali. Drive through the endless rolling hills of Rwanda.
You will visit the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Museum and see the remains of thousands who lost their lives during the 1994 Rwanda Revolution. You will also visit Nyamatta church and local markets. Lunch will be at a hotel in Kigali. The driver will drop you off at the airport or a hotel of your choice in Kigali. This marks the end of your 5 days Rwanda double gorilla trek and golden monkey trekking safari.
